Outside of Universal Sports Marketing, Steven also enjoys his role as a guest lecturer at Syracuse University’s David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics, where he can educate and inspire the next generation of sports executives. Warshaw is also producing a feature documentary about a deaf-blind genius, who is arguably “the most interesting man in the world.”
As Arena Guest Services Supervisor for Madison Square Garden, Warshaw was hired to restore MSG’s image as “The World’s Most Famous Arena,” following the infamous Charles Oakley debacle.
As SVP of Corporate Communications for Lagardère Sports, Warshaw guided the Paris-based company in its US launch, producing and developing public relations strategies to boost the agency’s global visibility and promoting its star athletes. As the Pittsburgh Penguins’ EVP of Sales & Marketing, Warshaw managed the club’s investment in Russia’s ‘Red Army’ Hockey Club (ЦСКА), re-branding this fabled, but bankrupt franchise, following the collapse of the Soviet Union. The sportsworld’s first international joint-venture (The Russian Penguins) is chronicled in the film RED PENGUINS (Universal Pictures), which premiered on opening night of the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival. The feature documentary received critical acclaim and turned a profit, with Warshaw serving as Consulting Producer for this chilling, cautionary tale.
Warshaw then joined IMG as Dir. of Team Sports Marketing, generating endorsement dollars, broadcasting income, licensing & speaking fees, and creating charitable foundations for Mark McCormack’s premier athletes, broadcasters, and Hall-of-Famers. In his Wonder Years, Warshaw managed minor league baseball, hockey & hoop teams, specializing in ticket sales, PR, advertising, sponsorships, barter, merchandising, TV/Radio partnerships, arena operations and game-day entertainment. As a GM and Consultant, Steven increased ‘franchise values’ in Worcester MA, Rockford IL, Helena MT & Long Beach CA.
